Our Community

Cressy is a picturesque regional town, surrounded by rich farmland, trout-filled rivers and mountain views of the The Great Western Tiers. With a population of approximately 800, Cressy’s relaxed pace of life and strong sense of community make it a great place to call home.

Cressy District Primary and Secondary School offers Kindergarten up to Grade 10 education. Here they offer unique opportunities for their students to engage with rural subjects including Agriculture Science, with access to their own school farm, populated by highland cattle and sheep.

On the main street you’ll find the heart of the Cressy Community, Rustic Bakehouse, where the locals, tourists and Burlington team go to enjoy artisanal woodfired baked goods and locally roasted coffee. Rustic Bakehouse takes pride in crafting their products with locally sourced ingredients, including our berries fresh from the farm.

Burlington Berries was established in Tasmania in 2012. Originally from NSW where the Sutherland family has farmed for generations, Kate and Stewart purchased Burlington Farm in 2010 as a location for their premium pasture seed business Upper Murray Seeds. In 2012 they joined with long term friends and 50% business partners Marion and Jon Regan and they established Burlington Berries. The next generation of Sutherlands now call Tasmania home, working alongside their parents to deliver a ‘Better Berry’ for all Australians to enjoy.
